Our school values and ethos have been developed to build on all the positives from the past and to take the school into the future so that we are preparing all our children for life beyond primary school. Our values incorporate the skills and attributes needed to be a success in the 21st century. We call this the Underhill Way.
Understand: Our community understands the big goal of our school and we work together to achieve this. We all understand our responsibilities to the children of our community and how we help them be the best they can be. The children understand their learning and how to achieve their potential
Uplift: We know the importance of positivity and a can do attitude. We work with passion and enthusiasm to enable all members of the community to feel engaged with the school and excited about the journey to success.
Unite: Community, cooperation and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. By working together and by understanding and respecting one another, the children can achieve all that we know they are capable of.
The Underhill Way teaches that by having a positive and determined attitude, the children develop the confidence to have a go at all their learning. They know that learning can be challenging and that mistakes are made but this does not deter them. They recognise the pride and success that comes with hard work. As you walk around the school, you will hear the children chanting I can You can We can as they learn.
The Underhill Way has four key aspects that we call our BE words. These have been chosen as they encapsulate the skills and attributes that will help lead all our children to success. We celebrate and develop these skills and attributes through our curriculum, and through our themed months, where we focus on one of our BE words.
