Children's Centre

We provide great opportunities here at Underhill Children's Centre to support children to achieve their goals and reach their full potential, in a fun, safe and caring environment. Underhill Children's Centre is located within the heart of the Barnet community and brings together a wide variety of services for children, families and the community as a whole.

About the Centre

Underhill Children's Centre forms part of the extended services at Underhill School and is directly managed by the school. The centre is part of the Child and Family Early Help Service. All centre staff are carefully vetted.  

Our opening hours

Underhill Children's Centre is open from 8am to 4.15pm, Monday to Thursday and 8 am to 3.30 pm on Friday, during term time. Opening hours are subject to change during half-term and holidays with the children's centre, usually, closing at 3.30 pm.  We are closed on weekends, bank holidays and for fixed closures over Christmas and the Summer Term.  There will also be "inset days" each year when Underhill Children's Centre will be closed for staff training - we aim to give at least one month's notice of these dates. 


BREAKING NEWS: SESSION CANCELLATION on 23.01.2026: Please note Boogie Mites is cancelled on Friday 23rd January, 2026.  We apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused.


FIXED CLOSURE DATES: To be Announced


Please note the Children's Centre will close at 1.30 pm on the following dates:-


Friday 27th March 2026

Friday 20th July 2026

Friday 18th December 2026

Thursday 25th March 2027

              

INSET DATES: 13th April 2026, 1st & 2nd September 2026, 5th January 2027 and 12th April 2027

Parenting can sometimes be very difficult.  As a result, you may feel you need  some additional support. We offer a variety of services that may help:

  • Low level outreach support for parents who feel that they need some additional support with family dynamics and parenting, e.g. boundaries and routines. We offer an ongoing free support services to parents with children under 5 years.
